After learning a lot about Multimedia, I realized that Interactive and multimedia Learning is a very broad and detailed topic. Mayer’s principles are undoubtedly very effective and attractive because Mayer’s principles tell me that as an educator, our educational materials must be simple and easy to understand and must also satisfy redundancy and signaling. Among the articles provided in the course, I loved Kat Holmes’s three principles of inclusive design which are Recognize Exclusion, Solve for One, Extend to Many, and Learning from Diversity.
Creating Accessible Text
To be honest, I actually have a bit of color blindness, so the colors I see in my eyes are somewhat different from those of normal people, and this has bothered me for a long time. Fortunately, most social software and tools now have color blindness modes. In this regard, Creating Accessible Text is extremely useful to me, because there is no difference between yellow and blue in my eyes, which leads to some misunderstanding of the video or material content. I have briefly summarized some things that are very practical for me.

  1. Text description:
An excellent work should take into account the differences of each reader, and the main purpose is to make your ideas accessible to everyone. These descriptions should be concise and convey the essential information contained in the visual.
  2. Use of high contrast and large, clear fonts:
High-contrast text or pictures can help color-blind people read and learn better, and large and clear fonts can also give people more choices.
  3. Interactive elements and easily accessible charts and graphs:
Using interactive elements such as links or buttons can make your information easier to understand, and easily accessible charts and graphs can not only visualize the data in your infographic, but also tell readers the differences between the data more intuitively.
  4. Provide downloadable versions and pay attention to user feedback
Because of cultural diversity and regional restrictions, our works should have downloadable versions, and some information or settings can be added or reduced based on user feedback.
